Volvo will no longer small models

Fans of the glass tailgate and the Volvo C30’s original look will be disappointed: the firm will not offer him any children. Our American colleagues the publication Car & Driver exchanged with the boss of the Nordic brand Hakan Samuelsson. Down in size in the last 40 is not part of the priorities.

Volvo will not renew the practice of the three-door C30. The bleak sales model launched in 2006 were due to his possible successor. The Swede prepares however several innovations that will join over the next four years the SUV XC90, S90 sedan and V90 wagon. The list contains among others the new S40 sedan and XC40 unprecedented raised vehicle. 40.1 and 40.2 inductees studies this month prévisualisent these cars.

Hakan Samuelsson’s statement also indicates that there will never succession to the C30. By cons, Series 40 will indeed be electrified, including through plug-in hybrid versions, but also a 100% electric version. It will be for 2019. Volvo also expects to have sold more than 1 million electric vehicles by 2025.

In the future, and especially through his family 40, Volvo will instead focus on electrify its range. With plug-in hybrid powertrain Twin Engine but also and especially with a model 100% electric which should be released in 2019. Volvo has thus set a target to sell more than one million electric and hybrid vehicles worldwide to 2025!
