So it is an ample package indeed. The good news is that like any new generation this one improves on the old one – and in heaps. The worrying part for me is how across segments benchmarking pricing continues to go up. I think here it has taken somewhat of a leap. The Fortuner when it first arrived in 2009 was pegged at 18 lakh and upwards. Now at 25.92 lakh it becomes a very premium contender.
Under the hood the Fortuner will get a 2.7-litre petrol motor and a 2.8-litre diesel motor. For the first time ever, the Fortuner will be available with a petrol engine. The petrol mill can put out 166bhp and 245Nm of torque while the diesel mill is rated at 177bhp and 420Nm of torque. The diesel motor will get six-speed manual and automatic transmission options while the petrol motor will make do with a 5-speed manual and six-speed automatic. The petrol motor is only available with a 2WD setup while the more powerful diesel motor gets the option of both, 2WD and 4WD.
With respect to safety, the all-new Toyota Fortuner is loaded with tech including seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, ABS with EBD, Downhill Assist Control (only on 4WD) and much more.
Under the hood, the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner is powered by a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre diesel engine options. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine pumps out a decent 166 BHP of maximum power along with 245 Nm of peak torque.
