Reportedly named after the Kodiak bear, the production Kodiaq SUV will be underpinned by the VW Group’s MQB-A+ platform which also underpins the India-bound VW Tiguan. The large SUV will measure 4,700mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,760mm.
Exterior styling is expected to remain similar to the VisionS concept with much of the key design elements, including the prominent front grille and lighting arrangement likely to reach production relatively unchanged.
Skoda will launch the new model early in 2017, with a public unveiling taking place in the second half of this year. So far only this teaser image has been revealed, however, we can probably turn to the recent VisionS concept for some indication of its styling direction and overall proportions.
When it goes on sale here, it should be a big seller for the brand in the local market. And, if our information is correct, it will be followed by a ‘coupe’ (low-roof) version, a new generation of Yeti and a smaller SUV that may or may not make it to Australia.
