A year and a half ago he will debut the new Renault Twingo in dealerships around the world, with the aim of repeating the success of previous generations. Now the compact goes from the street to the world of rallying, with the arrival of the Renault Twingo R1, presented this morning in Milan, ahead of the debut of the weekend in the Rally of San Remo, with Gasparetti-Ferrari pair.
Everything started to try to follow up on the success achieved in recent seasons by the Twingo R2 that, after making his debut in 2010, continues to have important feedback from trainers and riders. What is new is the engine architecture, drive and transmission on the rear. One solution, that of “all behind”, currently unpublished in the world of rally cars.
As part of the Italian Rally Championship, the Renault Twingo R1 is organized a trophy on four rides (Targa Florio Rally, Rally del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Rome Capital Rally and Rally Due Valli). In addition, it established a ranking (with related premiums) only for Twingo in 15 local rally. The orientation to the youth of Twingo R1A is witnessed by reducing operational costs, we speak of 10 euro per km of special stage.
The Twingo R1A is a project 100% born and raised in Italy (four months from idea to self completed) course approved by Renault Sport, and a prelude to the arrival of new sporting versions of the French city car.
