The new GT supercar from Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] is already one of the most desirable cars on the planet, and that’s before the Blue Oval has listed any performance specs or even mentioned a price.
That was to be expected, though, given the significance of the nameplate and the fact Ford will offer the car for a limited time only.
The 3.5-litre V6 Ecoboost powered supercar will take to the track for the Six Hours of Silverstone on April 17th, the first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Then the Ford GT will compete in the Six Hours of Spa on May 7th before heading to the 24hrs of Le Mans on June 18/19th as part of the challenging Ford GT racing programme announced last year.
And now, the good news: Applications are open from now until May 12 at 11:59 p.m. And In case you can’t afford the $400,000-plus price tag, Ford has released an online configuratior that lets you spec out your dream GT. This is going to be fun.
The new car won’t be appearing just in showrooms or rich people’s driveways. Fifty years after making its debut at Le Mans — and crushing the Ferrari competition — the racing legend has returned to the track. It can be seen in action this weekend at the 42nd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and next month at the Mazda Raceway in Laguna Seca, and this summer will once again compete at Le Mans.
