At the beginning of the year, the head of the GT department told a colleague that the GT4 engine would remain true to the atmosphere suggesting that the GT4 would inherit the engine from the restyled 911 GT3. Of course, the Cayman GT4 will not be entitled to the 500 hp GT3, but will have at least 400 hp. The 911 GT3 displays 1,430 kg on the balance, 70 kg less than a basic 911. In the same spirit, the GT4 could therefore approach the 1,350 kg or even less.
The new 718 GT4 will again use an atmospheric engine, and there are six cylinders, as was the case on the old generation. The power is not yet known but the rumor is already talking about 400 hp or more, which would still represent a small threat to the access versions of the 911, even though we remain on segments a bit different.
The future Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is currently under development on the Nürburgring. The shots relayed by Auto Evolution show us a prototype whose flap betrays nature. The foam in the wheel arches indicates that the manufacturer is likely carrying out tests relating to suspension and ground clearance.
