The model showcased at Geneva is the European spec model. The one that comes to Indian market will be offered with the choice of one petrol and one diesel engine, the exact details of which will be revealed soon by the company. The transmission responsibilities are to be handled by a manual gearbox while there will also be an automatic unit on offer.
Being a Jeep, the Compass will be offered with the Jeep Active Drive Terrain 4×4 system. This clever 4×4 system features a disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit which provided increased fuel efficiency figures. There is also a possibility that Jeep will add two large SUVs at the top of its range. One of them, the Grand Wagoneer (GW), has been in Jeep’s future product plan since 2014 but is now pushed back to 2019.
We expect Jeep to offer the compass with a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine which produces 165PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic depending on the trim. We also hope Jeep to offer the 4×4 variant as an option, because, otherwise, it’s just another front-wheel driven crossover and not a true-blue SUV.
