Based on the top of the range, 4WD, Infiniti Q60 Coupe with a 400bhp 3.0 litre V6, Infiniti and Renault are attempting to develop a unique KERS boost for the Q60 Black S which should deliver 500bhp.
Partnering with the Renault F1 team, the model set to premiere in front of the worldwide audience of the Geneva Motor Show is surely there to test the waters for a possible production series. The first pictures denote an aggressive coupe that has been developed starting from the Q60 Red Sport 400, and thus makes use of the biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine packing 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) – the same as on the standard production model.
Infiniti says that alongside the aero upgrades, the Q60 Project Black S will feature tech from the Renault Sport F1 team. It is thought that the energy recovery system used in current F1 cars to capture the energy generated by the brakes and hot exhausts, will be adopted for use in the Project Black S to make it the most performance-oriented version of the Q60.
We’ve seen the car up close and the detailing is spell-binding. Wafer-thin aero blades sit delicately on the side sills in order to channel air around the lower body of the car, while the huge rear diffuser mould neatly around the twin titanium exhaust tips.
