New Hyundai i30 Wagon (2017) – Just tested by us in its configuration sedan, on the occasion of a video, the Hyundai i30 is transformed today in break, at the time of the Geneva show. Named Hyundai i30 Wagon, it hopes to announce immediately the color with this name evocative of strong loading capacities.
Compared to the previous generation of Hyundai i30 Wagon it replaces, this new opus takes advantage of a length increase of 9 cm to culminate at 4.58 m. A rating that remains slightly below the Peugeot 308 SW and Renault Mégane Estate, yielding to these last few liters of trunk volume. This one evolves from 602 liters in configuration 5 places, to 1650 liters once the back seat back folded in its entirety. Measures progressing significantly compared to the former estate i30, which for the record, was called Sport Wagon. Destitute of the name “Sport”, would the new Hyundai break prove to be less dynamic? Let’s guess it’s more marketing considerations.
Under the hood, it is the status quo. The Hyundai i30 SW re-introduces the blocks on the sedan, namely the petrol engines 1.0 T-GDI of 120 hp, 1.4 T-GDI of 140 hp and the Diesel 1.6 CRDi of 136 hp. The two most powerful mechanics are also offered with the optional double-clutch and seven-speed gearbox.
But it is especially on the chest side that the i30 SW is strong because it displays no less than 602 liters and up to 1,650 liters once the bench folded down. This is almost as much as the 308 SW (610 liters, 1,660 liters) which is a reference in this matter. The i30 SW adds in addition a very elegant profile that recalls from certain angles the Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake.
