So, if there’s a hole in your heart left behind by the departure of smiling sedans, and if you’ve got plenty of cash to burn through, then the latest Ferrari vehicle will be a sight for your sore eyes. The Italian automaker just revealed the Ferrari Portofino, its new entry-level vehicle, which possesses an athletic chassis, a powerful engine, and, yes, a big ole grin.
In the looks department there’s a nose that looks proper Ferrari, headlights clearly influenced by the 488, air intakes which exit beautifully on the front wings, simple ‘Ferrari’ round tail lights and a look that is clearly more cohesive and purposeful than the California.
Performance aside, the Portofino promises to offer a roomy trunk to store some luggage, and a spacious cockpit up front with a couple rear seats for those passengers willing to sit in tight quarters for a quick road trip. An all-new chassis features a significant weight saving over the California T it replaces; while adding an extra 40-hp compared to the T as well.
When it comes to performance, the Portofino, which actually weighs less than its predecessor, will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 198 mph. Ferrari hasn’t announcing pricing for the vehicle yet, but you can expect it to hone closely to the $200,000 price tag of the California T.
