After a gloomy year, the brand expects to boost its sales volumes thanks to its new sports SUV whose first premiere will take place at the Geneva Motor Show.
Eclipse, it is indeed the name of baptism that would have chosen the Japanese manufacturer for its new compact SUV. Mitsubishi has just confirmed the world premiere of such a model in early March in Switzerland.
Under the hood, the XR-PHEV II housed a rechargeable hybrid engine with a combined power of 163 hp. The manufacturer announced an autonomy in electric mode of about 50 kilometers thanks to the battery of 12 kWh. The production version should be powered by more conventional thermal engines to ensure a competitive call price. The Mitsubishi Eclipse should be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol coupled to a CVT box and by the 2.2-liter turbodiesel associated with a six-speed manual transmission. It should be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
This new vehicle should be very much inspired by the eX concept unveiled there is a hair pile one year at the Geneva fair, precisely. And given the profile of the series car, we have the impression that Mitsubishi has not changed its concept too much to bring it into production. A good thing, or not? It’s up to you to tell us. The answer, anyway, in a few weeks now.
