In celebration of the one millionth Miata being build this year, Mazda is taking the vehicle on a worldwide appreciation tour to thank fans and owners for their loyalty. The Mazda MX-5 Miata is now the best-selling roadster of all time, as well as being one of the most raced cars in history. The U.S. legs of the world tour start in three weeks.
The 124 Spider shares its platform with the ND generation Miata, so it’s easy to see why these Flyin’ Miata decided to branch out and offer a V8 swap kit for the 124 as well. The Palisade, Colorado based company charges a base price $49,995 for the ND Miata V8 swap, not including the car, and we’d imagine pricing for the 124 will be quite similar.
For that price Flyin’ Miata will drop a 430 horsepower 6.2-liter LS3 V crate engine and a six-speed T56 manual transmission into your car. Other upgrade components are installed out of necessity including an aluminum driveshaft, an lS7 clutch, bigger brakes, and GM engine management and wiring harnesses. A 525 horsepower LS3 V8 is also offered, receiving a power bump via a hotter camshaft
The secret to the car’s success is simple: the MX-5 is a blast to drive, easy to maintain, packed with value and reliability. In fact, it may be the greatest car of all time, according to some industry pros. But it’s not over yet.
Just this past April, the one-millionth MX-5 was produced and to celebrate the milestone, Mazda has organized a “Millionth Miata Celebration Tour” with 18 stops in the U.S. Some of the venues are close enough to the boarder to warrant a road trip in your beloved roadster.
