Then what’s the big deal in this McLaren F1/P1 marriage product? Well, the car which is code-named the McLaren BP23 will feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which will; be enhanced with a touch of Hybrid. According to Autocar, the BP23 will possess an electric powertrain which will push it to the limits.
The Hyper GT, as it is called now, will be the most aerodynamic production car of its time. First examples of the BP23 are expected to roll out in 2019. Just like the F1, only 106 examples of the Hyper GT will be built and it is no surprise that all those cars have already been sold. The price tag is insignificant for the McLaren but be assured it will be north of $2 million at least (approx. Rs 13 crore).
While confirming the BP23 will be its most aerodynamic road-going car ever, McLaren also says it will be its most powerful, too. The new model is planned to eclipse the now-discontinued 903-hp P1 for outright power through the adoption of a new hybrid drivetrain combining the new twin-turbocharged 4.0L V-8 gasoline engine unveiled in the new 720S and an electric motor.
McLaren says it chose the new car’s buyers based on their loyalty to the brand and how often they drive their current McLaren products (as opposed to buying them as investments). That means even customers of Sport Series models like the 570S were in the mix, assuming they regularly drive and enjoy their vehicles.
