Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the top 10 highest-selling cars list with about half of the market share in four-wheeler PVs in India. However, other manufacturers like Hyundai, Renault and Tata are gradually gaining popularity in the mass market segments.
The South Korean carmaker, Hyundai, will soon be introducing the new Verna as well as introducing AMT or Automated Manual Transmission into its more popular cars by next year. A Hyundai compact SUV based on the Carlino Concept is also expected to be introduced by 2018 as well.
Just above the two entry-level hatchbacks, the Hyundai Creta sold 6,436 units putting it as the eight most sold car in the country. The seventh position came at the hands of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which sold 8,293 units in June this year. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire which was introduced on 16th June this just had half a month to cover, however, despite that the compact sedan sold an impressive 12,049 units taking a podium position at third place.
Other Maruti Suzuki cars dominated the middle order with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR on fourth position selling 10,668 units, the Baleno finding 9,057 takers and being on fifth while the Swift taking the sixth place selling 9,008 cars. The second position was taken by the Hyundai Grand i10 selling a respectable 12,317 cars.
