Gerry McGovern, the design director at Land Rover wants the skin of automotive preparers. Indeed, with each new model of the British manufacturer (especially the Range Rover), the automotive preparers rush to transform it aesthetically and sometimes even mechanically.
But if we believe Gerry McGovern, the good days of the preparers are numbered. Indeed, the design director promises exclusive versions of his models thanks to SVO (Special Vehicle Operations), the brand personalization department. Gerry says, “We’re going to kick them out with SVO, the choice of customizations we’re going to make and the quality of finish are so much above.”
Preparers, whose work consists of starting from an existing model to improve it by adding some aesthetic or aerodynamic elements, are very numerous. This is far from pleasing to the design boss of Land Rover. According to Gerry McGovern, “it’s easy to take an existing product and add a little spoiler or something else, but I’d like to see them design their own car, we see them taking our property and making profit.”
“We are going to put them out of service with SVO. The possibilities we offer and the quality of our work are far superior to those preparers.”
