The Jaguar XKSS 1957 is a gem for collectors. Made 16 copies, this sports competition derived from a model (the Type D) does not really trading on the used market. Its price depends on the madness that his wealthy players are ready to give it at auction.
Often regarded as the first supercar in history, the XKSS was one of the fastest road cars in the world when it was released. Featuring a 250 horsepower engine, this racing car was indeed capable of reaching 265 km / h top speed. Its design took up meanwhile that of the Type D, which was imposed on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, 1956 and 1957. To meet its civilian functions, XKSS had however increased from drifting in the form of shark fin placed behind the driver, while adopting a windshield, a condom and a luggage rack.
The cars will be assembled by hand by Jaguar Classic, according to the same specifications as the original model (6-cylinder engine line 3.4 liters, 250 hp), and priced in a way that will exceed the million pounds, or 1, 27 million of our euro. An almost reasonable price, in the (de) as the price of raw XKSS makes them perfectly inaccessible today. Deliveries of the “new” XKSS are scheduled for early next year.
The success of the D-type lasted in a small series of 25 models homologated for the road and for the US market. Price of this jewel which will be delivered next year: 1.27 million euros.
