But that’s a good thing. Infiniti’s designers, which we think are among the most creative, were able to just drink from the deep pool of inspiration. By picking out bits and pieces from some huge race car icons, they made the Prototype 9 into a car that looks like everything and nothing at the same time.
If such a car is introduced, for example Audi, it would hardly have someone surprised. But to see it in the performance of the brand, which in the 40’s did not exist (infiniti was founded in 1989, the year) is a surprise indeed. However, serial production of this concept is certainly “not threatened”, and the skill of designers Infiniti to show he could.
The design philosophy behind the Prototype 9 was inspired by a question – namely: “what if we [Infiniti] found a car, down at the southern tip of Japan, buried deep in a barn, hidden from all eyes for 70 years?”
Whatever the new Vision might be, it looks futuristic and prominent. It will grace its presence at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance which opens its gates next week. Stay tuned.
