A race-prepared Hyundai Ioniq hybrid prototype, developed by Hyundai Motor America’s Engineering and Quality team, set an FIA-approved production-based hybrid vehicle land speed record of 157.825 mph, with a peak exit speed of 160.7 mph at Utah’s renowned Bonneville Salt Flats.
The all-new Ioniq will be displayed this week at Hyundai’s booth at the Los Angeles auto show, along with a new home charger for the electric vehicle.
The Ioniq EV will cost about US$35,000 and have a maximum range of 200 km on a single charge. Hyundai plans to increase the maximum range to 322 km per charge by 2018.
The Ioniq will be available in three models: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric. At the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, Hyundai plans to provide home charging stations for the Ioniq.
