The rivalry between Bugatti and Hennessey is not new. After establishing an acceleration record in 2013, pulverizing the 0 to 300 km / h in 13.6 seconds, the little Texan manufacturer recently formalized a new speed record for vehicles with an in taking his Venom GT Spyder in 270.4 mph or 435.3 km / h. The Lotus Elise amphetamines and beats the previous record of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, which had been measured at 409 km / h in April 2013.
The performance was achieved at the Kennedy Space Center, base of NASA in Florida, a long of 4.66 km track. Recall that Hennessey had already made a previous speed record in 2014 with the Venom GT, which reached 435 km / h. Unfortunately, this could not be formalized because the car had made one pass and not a return. Still, it’s not the new Bugatti Chiron that exceed the US in pure speed, it is (for now …) limited to 420 km / h.
That’s 25 years of existence qu’Hennessey decided to mark the occasion with an astounding record. On the runway of 2.9 miles a California naval base, the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder has reached a speed of 265.6 mph or 427.4 km / h, spraying nearly 20 km / h record set in 2013 by the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.
On the video, we can see that the car grows as long as the driver depresses the pedal. The big boss John Hennessey said he was certain that with a slightly longer runway, the Venom GT Spyder have been a little closer to the record set by the coupe version in 2014 on 3.99 miles of track: 270, 49 mph (435.3 km / h).
