Datsun Redi-Go Car: Low-Cost brand of Nissan, Datsun is all set to launch the highly expected redi-Go in the country India as soon as the April month starts. Carandbike report said that this is a small car from the firm, that has been showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and it is reportedly known to make its market entry in India on 14th April.
As per a report in NDTV, the car is likely to be launched on April 14, 2016. Though under covers, the four-wheeler has been spied earlier on Indian roads. The car is based on the same CMF-A platform that is found in the KWID. It is unlikely that Datsun would borrow the design from its partner’s offering as it has insisted that the Redi-GO will be a completely different product (though we still believe the two cars will have quite a few similarities).
In fact, equipment levels in the Redigo are believed to be not as generous as in the Kwid because Datsun had originally planned to position the Redigo below the Kwid and price it approximately Rs 30,000 lower. However, in a surprise move, Renault usurped the Redigo’s position with a rock-bottom entry price of Rs 2.57 lakh at launch, which took the entire industry in India aback including partner (and rival!) Nissan. “We had not expected Renault to price the Kwid so low,” said a Nissan source on condition of anonymity.
Datsun India was reportedly planning to undercut the Kwid by around INR 30,000 but Renault pulled off a surprise move by coming up with extremely aggressively pricing, putting it associate in a challenging situation. It would be interesting to see how Datsun Redi-Go is positioned with respect to its sibling.
