The latter receives for the first time a 3-cylinder petrol engine. It is a 1.5 liter EcoBoost block that develops 200 horsepower, the same power as the current ST200. If performance stagnates (0 to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds), consumptions would decline sharply. Ford announces up to -20%.
This model replaces the former 1.6-liter atmospheric 4-cylinder with an all-new EcoBoost turbocharged, 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine – a first for the Ford Performance division. The horsepower remains the same, ie 197 horsepower, while the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 6.7 seconds. Three driving modes will be available.
This time the war of the buttons is finished and the Fiesta 2017 simplifies its presentation thanks to the arrival of a good size touch screen (8 inches on this version, 6.5 and 4.2 inches on the lower finishes). It is well positioned so as not to hinder visibility forward and ideally placed within reach of fingers.
In concrete terms, the American does not seem to be looking for pure power or performance up, but rather announces consumption down about 20%. In addition to using a 3-cylinder engine, Ford has integrated the deactivation system, which allows the new Fiesta ST (2017) to ride a twin-cylinder when the driver does not press too much on the right pedal. Commercialization is not planned until 2018, in 3-door or 5-door versions.
