The new BMW 740e iPerformance (pictured), BMW 740Le iPerformance and the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance will all possess the combination of a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo engine and electric motor.
Acclaimed as the most powerful engine in a BMW Series car, it’s capable of pumping out 190kW and 400Nm.
Meanwhile the electric drive system has a maximum output of 83kW and 250Nm and together they manage a high of 240kW and 500Nm which is capable of getting the 740e from 0-100kph in just over 5 seconds.
Drivers will also have a remarkable amount of control in how the drivetrain doles out power. An eDrive button will allow the driver to choose between Auto and Max settings. The former is the default setting that attempts to maximize range, but will engage the gasoline engine at 50 mph or under heavy throttle usage. The latter shifts to electric-only mode and can remain a pure EV up to 87 mph. It will still engage the combustion engine if the driver floors the throttle.
BMW has added a new model to their 7 Series range with the launch of the BMW 740e iPerformance. This new BMW 740e iPerformance is a plug in hybrid and there are a total of three new plug in hybrids in the range.
