Each manufacturer has at least one major and iconic vehicle in its history, and this is obviously the case of BMW where we could even mention several. The 507 would hold a special place for two reasons: its rarity to begin with only 254 units produced between 1956 and 1959, but also by the fact that it was the car chosen by the “King” in person Elvis Presley, to travel between his home and the German base in Friedberg.
Two ingredients that make the BMW model 507 chassis No. 70079 is unique in several respects. The car suffered some significant damage to the will of the owner at the time who wanted to make a car for the track. Martyred, therefore, the BMW 507, but not necessarily dead. The German coupe emerged from the archives two years ago when BMW confirmed the return of the car of the king in Germany for a restoration that lasted many months.
To remake a true beauty, the roadster has gone through eight stages, disassembly, sanding, engine remanufacturing or paint and upholstery. If BMW has already released some images is at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that the final version will be presented to the public, next to some BMW Art Cars.
If no information was given as to the future of this restoration, be aware that a copy in perfect condition for the 507 Roadster is worth about € 8,100. In 2014, a 1958 copy had exceeded 2 million, or about EUR 1.8 million at an auction organized by RM Auctions.
