The new SIM card has an unlimited data volume for the use of these services, at least for the first three years of use. As an option, Audi can become a hotspot Wi-Fi, so that passengers can surf the Internet (max 8 devices). One of the new system is that the customer has a choice – always optional – a “data pack” European, the data transfer is done automatically at border crossings, at a fixed cost, so without roaming charges (roaming), an important detail for cross-border workers and / or mobile workers of all kinds. That said, customers can also continue to use their own SIM card in the car and establish a Wi-Fi – at their expense – through their own mobile provider. At the end of the period of free use of the services, the user can extend access to the service for a fee.
The new Audi can equip the Audi Connect SIM option. With this SIM card factory-installed, the connectivity options are widened … and less tricky when traveling abroad.
If the customer opts for the Audi Connect SIM device, so it has a new permanent and irremovable Esim card that still offers her online services including Google Earth and Google Street View navigation, but also information about the trip, the traffic and parking. Users can also access their Twitter account, their e-mail accounts and the timing of their smartphone. This improved offer – and the first result of the collaboration between Audi and the Irish company Cubic Telecom – is available on the latest models integrating the platform of modular infotainment (MIB) second generation, or the A3, A4, new A5, Q2 and Q7 but not (yet) the TT, R8, A6 and A7.
