50 years AMG in Autoworld

The factory in Affalterbach was founded in 1976 to work on production models. In 1990 AMG and Mercedes went to sea together, although Mercedes-AMG was not a real Daimler subsidiary in 2005. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG from 2009 was the first car that was fully developed internally with the sports car brand. Then followed the AMG GT from 2014 (and then the AMG GT C).

Autoworld is located in the Jubelpark in Brussels. The museum is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. An admission ticket costs 11 euros for adults.

AMG was founded in 1967 in German Burgstall by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. The name comes from the initials of the two founders and the birthplace of Aufrecht: Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach. Initially, the company was an engineering agency and a design and test center for the development of racing engines. The brand quickly gained attention. In 1971, the AMG 300 SEL 6.8 (photo) in his category won the 24-hour Spa-Francorchamps and even finished second in the overall ranking.
