Volvo created quite a stir with its styling of the XC90. It is well received, and as expected the design is been used on all the new models like the S90, V90, V40 facelift and now also the XC60. The hammer-shaped DRLs and the large vertical-slat chrome grille look particularly nice.
Following the current Volvo trend, the new XC60 will have a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel options, along with a couple of hybrid variants. All about the mechanicals and more will be known only later next year, when the car makes its global debut. As for India, chances of us seeing it before 2018 are slim.
With that said, we don’t have a whole lot to go by, but this is the first time we’ve seen the XC60 testing, so it is still in the embryonic stages of testing. Either that or Volvo is planning a really wild design that it doesn’t want to disclose just yet. The model is planned for a 2017 debut, but when in 2017 is far from known. Until that happens, let’s take a look at the photos that we do have, and speculate a little on the upcoming model.
Our trusty spy photographers have sent us six more images with the funky looking XC60 prototype running around the busy streets of Amsterdam and scaring pedestrians with its battle-ready camouflage. Considering the traffic, it’s probably safe to assume that the self-braking features present on the car have been put to the test like there’s no tomorrow. Maybe Volvo’s R&D boss knew what he was talking about a few days ago.
