The design team sought to make the 2018 Mazda6 look more mature, with a higher quality look inside and out. The exterior will feature a more distinctive look, while the interior will get higher quality materials, like Japanese Sen Wood. From these teaser photos we can see that the 2018 Mazda6 isn’t completely new, but at least its face will stand out a bit more than the current model.
It’s not yet clear what power and torque the new car will have, but range-topping Mazda6 models running the 2.5 turbo are likely to be most potent current-generation Mazda6 ever made, taking the fight to the likes of the Kia Optima GT (180kW) and Subaru Liberty 3.6R (191kW).
Designers added a new high-grade interior configuration with Japanese sen wood, the most significant change among a broader range of slight adjustments and refinements.
Mazda also promises other “new high-grade interior features,” but hasn’t gone into detail as to what that may include. We should know more on this front following its appearance at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.
