You hated the BMW i3. You mocked it. You called it ugly. Over-styled. Too expensive. You didn’t buy it. Now look at what you made BMW do. The old i3 is dead. The BMW i3s is the electric car of your bad dreams.
Central among the changes to the new i3s is a more powerful synchronous electric motor. With 181 hp and 199 lb.-ft. (270 Nm) of torque, the rear-mounted unit is tuned to deliver 13 hp and 15 lb.-ft. (20 Nm) more than the motor used by the standard version of the facelifted i3, which continues to produce 168 hp and 184 lb.-ft. (250 Nm).
The interior remains mostly unchanged, still making use of sustainable materials and providing a sense of openness. The Giga World trim level now offers Giga Brown leather (tanned using olive leaf extract) and Carum Spice Grey wool cloth seat surfaces.
The BMW-estimated driving range for the i3 is 97 miles, but an available on-board gas generator can add another 87 miles of range, according to BMW. The generator system is available for both the i3 and i3s.
