Looks might be deceiving in many cases but not here. The new-gen Audi Q5 unmistakably looks like a shrunken Q7. Underneath the pretty exterior is Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform, which the new car shares with the new Q7 and the A4. Compared to its predecessor, the all-new Q5 is about 90kg lighter. That will pay dividends in efficiency figures and driving characteristics.
The vehicle will also offer driver aids in the form of an electronic stability program with different driving modes to suit different driver needs. The current diesel version is powered by a 3.0-litre that generates 272bhp and 600Nm of torque.
A 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine is the new 2.0 TFSI that produces 255PS and peak torque of 370Nm. Through the Audi Quattro system, it will come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission powering all four wheels.
