The most powerful version of the Amarok will be first out the door and will go on-sale in Europe this September – it’s likely the updated Amarok will arrive in Australia either towards the end of this year or early next year. The other two engine outputs are 120kW and 150kW. All engines are Euro6 compliant and will be mated to either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Combined fuel consumption is around 7.6L/100km for the most powerful Amarok.
Besides getting a new engine, the Volkswagen Amarok will also come with a few exterior upgrades including the LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights, new bumper, wheels, and air vents.
The new Volkswagen Amarok upgrade would make the truck a perfect competitor to some of the trucks we have in the market right now.
The company says it has updated the interior, too, with an upgraded dashboard. There are no images of that available yet. We’ll update the story when we can.
The V6 versions of the Volkswagen Amarok will be offered from September 2016 in Europe and in other parts of the world. There’s no word yet on if the four-cylinder versions of the Amarok will be retained or not, but it seems a safe bet that in lower-spec models a four-cylinder powertrain will continue to be offered.
