Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has previewed the facelifted Volkswagen Amarok with several sketches of the pick-up truck. The Amarok has been around for nearly six years now, and this facelift gives the truck a more premium look.
The facelift includes a redesigned front fascia, featuring a more angular bumper with silver accents and a skid plate. The fog lamps are also better integrated into said bumper, less obvious than before. Slimmer headlamps now flank a thicker and more prominent grille. At the rear, the tail lamps now feature a new, more modern lighting design as well.
We can see here the double cabin body style and we also get to look at the interior which fortunately has been redressed better. There’s a new dashboard that bridges the gap between the Amarok and the passenger car roster, with a repositioned touchscreen for better viewing. The air vents also go for an angular shape instead of the circular one of the predecessor, also packing some chrome trim. The buttons and knobs have also been updated to increase the car-like feeling.
The powertrain options have not been discussed yet, meaning we’re going to be treated to the same roster, which includes a turbodiesel 2.0-liter engine mated to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. It has 140 and 180 hp power levels and there’s also the option of a selectable or permanent all-wheel-drive 4MOTION system.
