The Honda Fit used to be our favourite, especially since the hatchback is capable of returning about 41mpg in fuel economy. The fact that the Fit is also versatile with its offerings made it the perfect econobox. So why would we trade it for the new Civic? It’s simple, the Civic is just better.
The Civic is about $2000 more than the Fit and it has way more goodies to offer. For starters, the new Civic is sized like the Accord hence you don’t have to worry about space. Then there is the fact that the Civic runs on the new 1.5L turbo-4 engine that can develop 174hp hence making the car more powerful than the last Civic Si. The engine can also return up to 42mpg in fuel economy.
The Honda Civic Hatchback will be powered by a 1.0 liter and 1.5 liter VTEC turbo engine that will be delivering about 120hp to 174hp. The Honda Civic Hatchback is expected to make its debut at the Paris Auto Show later this year.
We’d love to see how the angular C-shaped tail lamps work on the SUV, but what are some of the styling cues of the Civic you would like to see on the Accord?
We’ll be hoping that Honda retains the stick shift on the redesigned Accord as it is doing for the entire Civic lineup. The hatch won’t be getting the 158hp 2.0L base engine; that’s fine, because it has rarely been a better option than the 174hp 1.5L turbo-four powertrain anyway.
